Students & graduates
Significantly more women than men study at the University of Vienna. For many years, the proportion of women has been over 60 % at all levels of study, except for doctoral programs. There are exceptions in certain subjects: in computer science, physics, mathematics, and sports science, the proportion of women is below 40 %. This trend is even more pronounced among graduates: the many become even more numerous, while the few become even fewer. The situation is different in doctoral programs, where the proportion of women is below 40 % in six of 18 directorates of studies (SPL).
